Double Fantasy 'Watching The Wheels' People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball? I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round I really love to watch them roll No longer riding on the merry-go-round I just had to let it go Ah people asking questions lost in confusion Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions Well they shake their heads and look at me as if I've lost my mind I tell them there's no hurry I'm just sitting here doing time Imagine This was my first John Lennon album, and a good choice for it too. 'Imagine' Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today... Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one 'Crippled Inside' I realized that the way people were acting was just showing off their weaknesses-they were unhappy with themselves, so they had to take it out on me. I knew if I wanted to be happy, I just had to understand that it wasn't my fault other people had a problem with me. If I was happy with myself, everything would work out. You can wear a mask and paint your face You can call yourself the human race You can wear a collar and a tie One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside You can go to church and sing a hymn Judge me by the color of my skin You can live a lie until you die One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside 'How?' When I was feeling bad, I thought of the line "Life can be long, and you've got to be so strong, and the world is so tough" and I realized I had to just hold on and be strong, and things would get better. How can I go forward when I don't know which way I'm facing? How can I go forward when I don't know which way to turn? How can I go forward into something I'm not sure of? Oh no, oh no You know life can be long And you got to be so strong And the world is so tough Sometimes I feel I've had enough John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band 'Hold On' Hold on John, John hold on It's gonna be alright You gonna win the fight Hold on Yoko, Yoko hold on It's gonna be alright You gonna make the flight When you're by yourself And there's no one else You just have yourself And you tell yourself Just to hold on Hold on world, world hold on It's gonna be alright You're gonna see the light Oh when you're one Really one Well you get things done Like they've never been done So hold on 'I Found Out' This showed me that living by what other people said or did was ruining my own life. Always believing them, believing I was worthless, was causing my problems. I had to stop letting them bother me. Now that I showed you what I been through Don't take nobody's word what you can do I've seen through junkies I been through it all I've seen religion from Jesus to Paul Don't let them fool you with dope and cocaine No one can harm you, feel your own pain 'Working Class Hero' I was fine with not having friends, because I felt that to make people like you, you had to act like them. How many times do people become friends because they're both making fun of the same person, or maybe they won't stick up for a person because they don't want to be made fun of themselves? I didn't want to be a part of it, and if that meant no friends, then that was ok with me. There's room at the top they are telling you still But first you must learn how to smile as you kill If you want to be like the folks on the hill 'Remember' If you ever feel so sad And the whole world is driving you mad Remember, remember today And don't feel sorry About the way it's gone And don't you worry About what you've done Lennon Legend 'Instant Karma!' The lines "Why on Earth are we here? Surely not to live in pain and fear" made me realize that there had to be something more to life. If that wasn't the reason we live, which it couldn't be because there would be no point for anyone to live, then what was it? I knew happiness was out there somewhere, I just had to find it. Instant Karma's gonna get you Gonna knock you right on the head You better get yourself together Pretty soon you're gonna be dead What in the world you thinking of Laughing in the face of love? What on earth you trying to do? It's up to you, yeah you Instant Karma's gonna get you Gonna look you right in the face You better get yourself together darling Join the human race How in the world you gonna see Laughing at fools like me? Who on earth d'you think you are? A superstar? Well, right you are! Well we all shine on Like the moon and the stars and the sun Well we all shine on Everyone come on Instant Karma's gonna get you Gonna knock you off your feet Better recognize your brothers Everyone you meet Why in the world are we here? Surely not to live in pain and fear? Why on earth are you there? When you're everywhere Come and get your share 'Cold Turkey' This just made me vow to never take drugs if I got the chance. It was written when John was in withdrawal, after just giving up heroin. I couldn't see putting myself through so much pain on purpose. Temperature's rising Fever is high Can't see no future Can't see no sky My feet are so heavy So is my head I wish I was a baby I wish I was dead Cold turkey has got me on the run Thirty-six hours Growing in pain Praying to someone Free me again Oh I'll be a good boy Please make me well I'll promise you anything Get me out of this hell 'Borrowed Time' I knew John had been through a lot of bad times too, but he says he wouldn't exchange any of it, he just accepted it and got over it. I just knew, especially with the 'good to be older', that someday I would be over my problems of today, that things would be better. Living on borrowed time Without a thought for tomorrow Living on borrowed time Without a thought for tomorrow Good to be older Would not exchange a single day or a year Good to be older (You bet) Less complications, everything clear Mind Games 'Intuition' I used the third stanza here in an English paper my first semester of college. The next one, "It's only a condition of seeing things that way", everything is only as good or bad as you see it. If you want to feel sorry for yourself and not be happy, that's only your choice, but you can just as easily choose to see things differently. Every experience is only as 'good' or 'bad' as you make it. And as I play the game of life I try to make it better each and every day And when I struggle in the night The magic of the music seems to light the way Intuition takes me there Intuition takes me everywhere Well my instincts are fine I had to learn to use them in order to survive And time after time confirmed an old suspicion It's good to be alive And when I'm deep down and out And lose communication With nothing left to say It's then I realize it's only a condition Of seeing things that way 'Only People' Only people know just how to talk to people Only people know just how to change the world Only people realize the power of people A million heads are better than one So come on, get it on! Well I know how we tried And the millions of tears that we cried Now we are hipper, we been through the trip And we can't be denied, with woman and man side by side Make no mistake it's our future we're making Bake the cake, and eat it too! Rock 'n' Roll 'Stand By Me' I knew everything would be alright if I just learned to live by all the lyrics of the songs on these pages. If the sky that we look upon should tumble and fall, and the mountain should crumble to the sea, I won't cry, I won't cry, no, I won't shed a tear just as long as you stand, stand by me.
